Old School Mondays

I'm gonna dig into a little history if you don't mind. Every afternoon after school I would run home to catch the Box that Rocks aka Video Music Box. The good folks over here at MotherGreen & H.K.M all share in common our love for that time of innocence for NYC. We were given the option to view music videos and performances by artists that were on the come up. So here's another Old School Mondays from a MG perspective.

This is the God Positive K. First Priority Records artist down with MC Lyte and Audio Two. One of my favorite jams.

If you can't dance to this Queen Latifah cut I don't know what to tell you. My man Shan Boogie is good for playing this record.

Now this is actually recorded from another NY show called Hot Tracks that came on back in the 80s. I love this group. The Force MD's are official hip hop and brought that Harmonizing sound to the mainstream. And they're from Staten Island.

Another Brooklyn smash right here. The Fat Boys aren't appreciated enough these days for me.

Now for those who don't know, Just-Ice is the God from Ft. Greene Brooklyn. Also known as the original Gangster of Rap.

Old School Mondays

Peace People, it's been a while since I had the chance to post anything but I figured I'd start with adding onto the "Old School Mondays" theme. So in light of this I added a begining clip of Video Music Box and a few classic videos. So enjoy and hope this batch of selections set you up in a good mood this snowy Monday morning.

For the final video a lot of you may not like this but this is one of the best known New York City Hardcore Punk bands. This was in a time when, well basically it was the recession during the 80's (Reganomics ya dig!!??). The cool thing about it was that a lot of kids gravitated towards music that had something to say and not just talk about chicks and money so as opposite as these two forms of music were they still had strong messages.
